At the end of the 19th century, electric lighting was used only at Pavlovsk Station, while city streets continued to be lit with kerosene. In 1910, the Pavlovsk Joint-Stock Electric Company was formed. In 1911, a power station building in the Art Nouveau style was built on the territory of Marienthal Park according to the design of the architect K.K. Schmidt.
The one-story part of the building was occupied by the machine room, and the two-story part was occupied by offices and service rooms (administrative and residential wing). By the beginning of the 2000s, the power plant was shut down and the equipment was dismantled. The general condition of the building was assessed as partially functional, the historical interior decoration and equipment of the power plant were not preserved.
Since 2017, the building has been owned by S.E. Gutsait, who commissioned comprehensive work to preserve the cultural heritage site (repair, restoration and adaptation for modern use).
